iPhone owners: turn off Live Voicemail
iPhone's Live Voicemail (iOS 17+) answers calls before forwarding can reach your assistant; turn it off in Settings so callers get a live answer.
If your business line is an iPhone (iOS 17 or newer), one setting quietly breaks call forwarding: Live Voicemail. It answers unanswered calls on the phone itself — before your carrier's forwarding timer can hand the call to your assistant. The result: callers get Apple's transcription screen instead of a live answer, and it looks like your assistant just isn't picking up.
The fix takes ten seconds: Settings → Phone → Live Voicemail → off. Then run "Test my forwarding" (Settings → Phone in Conduit, or the forwarding screen in the app) — we place a real call and confirm it reaches your assistant.
Two honest notes: we can't see or change this setting for you (no app can), and an iOS update or a new phone can switch it back on. If your assistant ever goes quiet, this is the first thing to check — our forwarding test failing is how we detect it, and we'll send you a heads-up if a check we run can't get through.
