Settings → Phone & texting is where you control the phone side of your assistant: the number, who answers, and when. Here's what each part means.

Your number, calls, and texting

  • Your number is your assistant's real phone line. Tap Copy to put it on your website, truck, cards, or Google listing — calls and texts both land here.
  • Calls shows who's answering (your assistant), and Texting shows whether it can text customers back.
  • Update what callers hear lets you tweak the greeting and how it handles calls.

Who answers, and when

Lower on the page you choose how calls are handled during your open hours:

  • Assistant answers first — it greets every caller and passes them to you only when someone needs a person.
  • Ring my phone first — your phone rings first; your assistant steps in only if you can't pick up.

After hours is automatic

You never have to remember to "turn it on" at night. Your open hours do it for you — the moment you close, your assistant is on duty, and it hands back the moment you open again.

Keeping your own number

Prefer to keep the number you already advertise? You can forward it to your assistant so customers keep dialing the same number they always have. The exact code to dial is on your Home screen and in forwarding your existing number.

What's next

If you also want your assistant to text customers back (confirmations and reminders), that needs a quick one-time approval — see business texting approval.

Common questions

Is the Conduit number the number I give to customers?

You can — it's a real number that takes calls and texts. Most owners instead keep the number they already advertise and forward it to Conduit, so customers never see a change. Either way works.

Can I answer some calls myself?

Yes. Choose "Ring my phone first" and your phone rings first — your assistant only picks up the ones you miss. Or let it answer everything. You can switch any time.

What does "open hours" have to do with it?

Your business hours decide who's on duty automatically. The moment you close, your assistant comes on; when you're open, it follows the choice you set. No switch to flip at the end of the day.
